A Case for Coaching

Coaching is a powerful dialogue between a facilitator and a learner within a productive, result-oriented context. It facilitates the exploration of needs, motivations, aspirations, skills, and thought processes to assist the individual in making tangible change. It is specific, need-based, time-bound meaningful and measurable.

While there are several variants of coaching starting from life skills to job skills, the focus of CFI is to develop business and executive coaching professionals who can coach leaders across organisations and also help organisations bring about a coaching culture by developing their managers to become more coaching oriented in their style.

Essentially, it’s all about facilitating individual CHANGE and TRANSFORMATION.

The power of a developmental and helping relationship in facilitating learning and change and the criticality of such relationships for leaders who have to perform and succeed in a turbulent world of business has led to Coaching emerging as one of the most powerful approaches to leadership and personal development. Drawing inspiration from the fields of counseling, adult learning, sport psychology and consulting, Coaching has rapidly achieved the status of a powerful profession with immense potential.

Indian organisations of every form have had a long and rich tradition of transmitting wisdom - from one generation to the other, from seniors to juniors, from gurus to sishyas.  In that sense, a helping relationship is integral to our culture.

As Indian businesses witness unprecedented and exciting global opportunities for human capital led economic growth, it is also witnessing unprecedented challenges in getting there. The biggest of these challenges is about developing leaders at every level.  Organisations are simultaneously realizing that the traditional hierarchy based system of transmitting wisdom will now need to be replaced by more egalitarian and partnership based helping alliances.

Managers are expected to wear the Coaching hat more often than their managerial hats.

Similarly  CEOs  are desperately seeking a sounding board and wanting to partner with someone who can help them navigate through their business challenges and also realise their full potential.

Beyond the shortage of numbers, organisations are witnessing a leadership and wisdom void.

CFI’s  mission is to fulfill this need
